Caribbean cruises for singles

Caribbean cruises are for active singles eager to enjoy the sea, sun, sand and perhaps a little romance.

Numerous specialty cruise companies organize escorted singles' cruises to the Caribbean, bringing large groups together on the ship for private parties, dinners and other activities. If you're single and prefer to travel independently, check out lines known for their appeal to your age group.

Escorted Singles' Caribbean Cruises

Several specialty travel companies offer escorted group cruises for singles. These include SinglesCruise.com, a Fort Lauderdale-based company that works with cruise lines to arrange trips across the globe for singles of all ages. Their services include private cocktail parties, dinners, dances and tours led by a private cruise director for groups of 100 to 500 singles.

An example of an escorted Caribbean cruise is the annual Halloween cruise for singles 21 and older, which in 2010 was scheduled on the Carnival Dream, sailing from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida. The exotic Western Caribbean itinerary included calls at Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico, as well as Belize and Honduras.

Singles Cruise

Independent Cruises on Carnival

Long known for the liveliness of its "Fun Ships," Carnival is a casual and upbeat line known to attract large numbers of single travelers. The non-stop activities and myriad bars, lounges and dance clubs are key to that reputation. Carnival offers hundreds of Caribbean cruises, and singles might want to choose one that also has music and theme targeting their age group.

Independent Cruises on Royal Caribbean
The other cruise line singles should consider is Royal Caribbean International, which offers many Caribbean cruises out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, among other ports. Royal Caribbean offers special appeal for lively young people who crave non-stop action because of its unusual amenities. These include the line's trademark rock-climbing wall, ice skating rink, wave machines and water parks and fitness centers. Activities that draw singles include such events such as the Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournaments.

Singles who are interested in meeting others might consider shorter, three-to-five-day Caribbean cruises, which appeal to busy professionals. Royal Caribbean offers some three-night Bahamas cruises out of Miami. You're also more likely to find singles traveling in the fall when most children are back in school. Like many lines, Royal Caribbean has a program through which it matches single travelers of the same gender as roommates. This allows them to avoid the hefty single supplements charged to those booking rooms alone.
